It deserves repeating. Psychics don’t win the lottery for the same reason hospitals don’t have departments employing faith healers. And even the most religious person secretly knows prayer doesn’t work, which is why no one thinks prayer and divine intervention are reasonable answers to the Trolley Problem, even though prayer would be a great answer if prayer works – which it doesn’t.
People know divine intervention and prayer don’t work, they just lie to themselves that such wishful thinking does work.
